Allen Valley Angling and Conservation
officially launched at The Allendale Agricultural Show on 20th
August, 2011. Committee members Paul Frear, Graeme Edwards, Daniel
Newman, Richard Heather, Wilfy Frazer & Clifford Jackson hosted
the stand - which attracted 200 visitors over the course of the
day, including local MP Guy

Visitors had an opportunity to meet some of the inhabitants of the river - a large fish tank containing brown trout that were caught in the river just behind the show ground at Riding Haughs provided plenty of interest.
Two 4lb sea trout were also caught -
but were too big for the tank, so you'll have to take our word for
it!
In
addition, we gave our visitors the opportunity to get a close up of
the 'fly life' on which the fish feed - viewing them through a high
powered microscope.
THE RESULTS OF OUR
CASTING COMPETITION ARE IN!
The casting competition was a great success, with over 20 people battling it out to hit the centre of the target and win the covetted title of 'best caster in the Allen Valleys'. For some of those that took part, this was in fact the first time that they had tried casting and it's not as easy as it looks, but Clifford Jackson was on hand to provide some on-the-spot coaching.
It was the females who shone under pressure with women taking the top four spots, with winner Jodie - the last entry of the day - hitting the bulls-eye with her first ever cast!
